Return of the Motorcycle Rally Parade
The Labor Day Motorcycle Rally Parade is back to Main Avenue in Downtown Durango this weekend on Sunday, September 5. The Business Improvement District, City of Durango and Harley Davidson are sponsoring the parade.
Beginning at 8 a.m. under the big tent in the Transit Center parking lot (surrounded by hundreds of classic cars, hot rods and motorcycles), a burrito breakfast will benefit the national veteran's organization, Building Homes For Heroes. The Main Avenue classic car parade will start at 11 a.m. with a Civil Air Patrol Fly-over, followed by the motorcycle parade at 11:30 a.m. Main Avenue will be closed beginning at 10 a.m. and will re-open after the motorcycle parade.
Rally Parade has been made possible due to strong community support. Thanks to local government, service and veteran's organizations, businesses and citizen volunteers, the Downtown Durango community is now the official host and organizer of the Sunday morning Rally Parade. Of special significance is the Veteran Dedications beginning at 10:30 a.m. under the Transit Center tent. Army Specialist BJ Jackson, a double amputee, will speak on behalf of Building Homes For Heroes, followed by a Tribal Blessing of the parade. A Veteran's Memorial Table will honor all lost and missing soldiers.
