Durango Wine Experience

This three day event held May 6 - 8 will have wine lovers from all over traveling to Durango  for The Durango Wine Experience. This scenic mountain town will welcome over 300 wineries to the festival.  Durango is known for its extreme adventures, world class biking, blue ribbon rivers and a great mountain setting, well now Durango has found its place in the wine world.  Multiple Wine Spectator acclaimed restaurants, enoteach classes, top sommeliers and wine merchants have added to Durango's wine credibility and made it the perfect environment for a wine event.

The event will begin on Thursday with an evening VIP welcome reception for Winery owners, winemakers, Winery Representatives, Sponsors and Platinum pass holders, offering the opportunity to meet the participating wine experts.  In addition to wine dinners and seminars, there are two major wine tastings:  a "Walk-About Durango" a moving tasting held at seven downtown locations on Friday, May 7 and the "Grand Tasting" on Saturday, May 8.  The Grand Tasting takes place under the festival tent at the First National Bank of Durango and will feature 50 wineries from around the world including Duckhorn, Witness Tree, Banifi Vintners, Justin Winery, and Penfolds.  Four educational wine seminars will be presented and wine dinners will take place at various downtown restaurants in historic downtown Durango on Friday and Saturday evenings.  Only 500 tickets will be available for each of the major wine tastings and seminar seating is limited.

Over 1000 wine lovers attended the 2009 Experience.  And Durango wants even more this year.  All net proceeds will go to a local non-profit changing annually, this year the beneficiary is the United Way of Southwest Colorado.  With such a fun and inviting atmosphere Durango is the perfect place for a wine tasting.
